Trip to L.A.

At the beginning of July, Dale, Ethan and I took a little jaunt to Los Angeles for some sightseeing. Believe it or not, after living in SoCal for over six years, I have never really been to L.A. I guess you could say I’ve been avoiding it!! But I heard there were some interesting sights to see, so we figured we would try our first trip out of town with Ethan and head to the coast!

We started out by meandering around Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It was nice, but a little bit out of our league so we didn’t stay long…

We went to all sorts of touristy places like the Hollywood walk of fame, the Chinese Theater, the original Pinkberry (yum!), we ate across the street from the Ivy restaurant where all the stars go to be photographed by the paparazzi! And I saw Michael Rappaport!! Just walking down the street! “Who?” you ask! He was Phoebe’s boyfriend on Friends for a while! It was all very exciting! I got to see my B-list movie star in L.A.! Of course I don’t have any of those pics yet cause we were using Dale’s camera and I have yet to download them! We also were able to meet up with my Uncle Bryan for dinner who happened to be out working at LAX for the week. That was really fun too!

Our second day we went to the Getty Museum. I was kind of on the fence about going because I really wanted to go to Malibu and I wasn’t sure if we would have enough time. But we went and I’m so glad we did because it ended up being Dale’s and my favorite thing we did in L.A. It is so beautiful up there!

Beautiful views at the Getty. Poor baby slept the whole time, but the sun kept getting in his eyes!

After the Getty we went to Malibu and had lunch at Paradise Cove, a little restaurant right on the beach. We couldn’t go any further because poor Ethan was starting to develop a rather large aversion to the car seat. On the way back we stopped in Santa Monica and checked out the Santa Monica Pier.

We heard some awesome uplifting music at the end of the pier by a live musician whose CD we bought b/c we liked it so much! We wandered around and got a cheese on a stick at the original hot dog on a stick and walked by the original Muscle Beach.

So after our two days of fun in L.A. we headed down to San Diego to hang out with my family for the 4th of July. I guess we shouldn’t have let our sweet baby sleep so much during the day because on the two and a half hour trip down to San Diego this is what he did…

the entire two and a half hours!! Poor baby was NOT happy! We tried stopping several times and feeding him, rocking him, trying to help him get to sleep. He would be ok then, but as soon as we put him in the car seat and started driving again it was ballistic-ville! It was a total nightmare! I felt so bad for him, but what could we do? We couldn’t camp out on the 405!! Although there were a couple of moments when I was tempted to!

So that concludes our trip to L.A.! Next comes our 4th of July in San Diego, which believe it or not was a lot more relaxing than our trip to L.A!
