Long night

So last night Ethan was uncharacteristically awake. A lot. It felt like he was awake every 10 minutes or so. I’m sure it was longer than that, but not by much! Dale and I lost count after about the 12th time! We’re currently in a state of limbo with his sleeping situation and perhaps it is affecting his sleep pattern. He’s pretty much outgrown the moses basket that he has been sleeping in by the side of our bed…so the last two nights we have been trying to have him sleep in our bed in a sleep positioner in various places. Apparently he is not liking that so much because all night he was crying to be out of it! He would come in bed with me and nurse and fall asleep and then we would ever so gently transfer him to the sleep positioner and then have ten minutes of bliss before our poor baby would wake up crying for mommy again! It was a bit of a rough night. Especially for poor Dale. I felt so bad that he had to get up early and go to work today!! So maybe we are going to reassess the sleep situation again. We’re not ready for him to go into the crib yet, so the problem becomes that we don’t have anywhere else that he will fit in our room that he can sleep! What a quandary! And of course I’m making all of our lives more difficult by constantly nursing him to sleep and allowing him to sleep on me! But at this point it’s just so much easier to let him do it! I hate to hear my baby cry! So don’t be too hard on me…one of these days it will be an arduous journey into the crib, but we’ll get there when we get there!!

Dear Laura: It is so great that you and Dale have put together this interesting
web page. Ted and I have been having lots of fun finding our way around. Some of it we couldn’t figure out, but we will keep trying.

I hope Ethan is sleeping better now. Believe me, I know how it is – to long for a good night’s sleep – to sleep all through the night! Wow! I wish we lived closer
so I could come over and help you out and give you a little R&R.

But, keep up the interesting dialog. We enjoyed reading it a lot.

    Love, Grandma Haynes and Ted
